Max Zunino Joins A Fábrica Mexico & U.S. Hispanic as Development Executive

On June 8, 2026, industry veteran Max Zunino officially joined A Fábrica Mexico & U.S. Hispanic as its new executive director of development. He will collaborate closely with Santiago Zapata, who assumed the role of executive VP of Content in August of the previous year. Zapata expressed enthusiasm for Zunino's unique blend of narrative skill and dual expertise as a director and screenwriter, highlighting it as a crucial asset for crafting globally appealing content. Zunino, originally from Uruguay but based in Mexico, brings a wealth of award-winning experience. His directorial credits include HBO Max’s “Collision” and ViX’s “The Dentist,” produced by Fabula. As a screenwriter, he is recognized for his contributions to Hari Sama’s critically acclaimed film “This Is Not Berlin,” Netflix’s political drama “Tijuana,” and Prime Video’s dark comedy “Freddy Larios.” Zunino shared his excitement for this new chapter, emphasizing his dedication to shaping the development strategy and creating original projects that resonate with international audiences. His debut feature film, “Open Cage” (“Los Bañistas”), earned the Fipresci Prize at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montreal and the Guerrero Press Award at the Guadalajara International Film Festival. His second feature, “Mist” (“Bruma”), filmed in Berlin and Mexico City, premiered in the Visions section of the 2017 Berlinale EFM and later at the 2017 Raindance Film Festival. Zunino is also a co-founder of Room Service, a production company responsible for a variety of fictional content for major platforms like Amazon, Netflix, and Sony, and is a founding board member of Tinta, the Mexican Association of Audiovisual and Cinematographic Writers. A Fábrica Mexico & U.S. Hispanic, established in January 2025 through a partnership between Endemol Shine Boomdog and Brazil’s A Fábrica, is actively developing several projects under the leadership of Luiz Noronha, including a notable collaboration with Leonardo Padrón.

This strategic appointment underscores a growing trend in the entertainment industry to bring seasoned creators into executive development roles. Zunino's deep understanding of storytelling, coupled with his practical experience in both directing and writing, positions him perfectly to identify and cultivate compelling narratives. His track record of international recognition suggests a keen eye for projects that transcend cultural boundaries, which is invaluable in today's globalized media landscape. For aspiring filmmakers and writers, Zunino's journey highlights the importance of a versatile skill set and a commitment to crafting authentic stories. It also signals a promising future for A Fábrica Mexico & U.S. Hispanic as they aim to produce high-quality, impactful content that resonates across diverse audiences.
