In his new capacity, Malhotra will be instrumental in shaping Snapchat's content landscape. Additionally, Malhotra is tasked with spearheading Snap's international expansion efforts, covering critical regions including North America, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. His extensive background, particularly in leading sports and media partnerships with major entities like NBC, ESPN, NFL, NBA, and FIFA, positions him uniquely to drive these initiatives. Before his tenure at Snap, Malhotra honed his skills at BlackRock, a prominent asset management firm, and is an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.

This appointment comes at a dynamic time for Snap. The company is actively diversifying its revenue streams beyond advertising, with a strong focus on premium content and direct-to-consumer offerings. A prime example is Snapchat+, its subscription service, which has already garnered over 25 million subscribers and boasts an annualized run rate exceeding $1 billion. In the first quarter of 2026, Snap reported a 12% increase in revenue, reaching $1.53 billion, and significantly reduced its net loss to $89 million. While facing challenges with larger advertisers in North America, the company observes promising signs of recovery. Snapchat's daily active user base also saw healthy growth, reaching 483 million in Q1, demonstrating its continued global appeal.
