SiriusXM Expands Podcast Reach with Tubi Partnership, Featuring Conan O'Brien and Trevor Noah

SiriusXM has forged a new alliance with Tubi, the ad-supported streaming platform owned by Fox, to significantly expand the video distribution and advertising opportunities for a selection of its prominent podcasts. This strategic, non-exclusive collaboration will introduce acclaimed shows like "Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend," "Rotten Mango," and "What Now? with Trevor Noah" to Tubi's audience, alongside other titles such as "The School of Greatness" and "The Deep 3 Podcast." This move is set to enhance the visibility of these popular audio programs, allowing them to connect with a broader viewership across diverse digital environments.

The partnership highlights SiriusXM's commitment to a broad distribution model, contrasting with the exclusive content deals pursued by other industry leaders like Spotify and iHeartMedia with platforms such as Netflix. By choosing a non-exclusive approach, SiriusXM ensures that its podcasts remain accessible on existing platforms like YouTube, while simultaneously tapping into Tubi’s extensive user base. This strategy aims to maximize audience engagement by making content available wherever listeners and viewers prefer to consume it, effectively transforming audio-first content into video-accessible formats for a wider market.

Andrew Moss, Senior Vice President of Content Strategy and Development at SiriusXM, articulated the company's vision, stating that the same philosophy driving broad audio distribution is now being applied to video. The goal is to amplify creators' reach across various devices, from mobile phones to connected televisions, facilitating discovery by new fans. This initiative is particularly timely as video podcast consumption continues to grow, offering a fresh avenue for creators to expand their audiences and commercial ventures. The initial rollout of these podcasts on Tubi is anticipated to commence in late June, bringing two of the U.S.'s top 20 podcasts, "Rotten Mango" and "Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend," to new viewers.

Tubi, for its part, has been actively cultivating its podcasting ambitions, notably following its acquisition of Red Seat Ventures and a multi-year agreement with Ashley Flowers, the host of "Crime Junkie" and her Audiochuck podcasting group. Rich Bloom, General Manager of Creator Programs and Executive Vice President of Business Development at Tubi, emphasized the platform's role in supporting creators. He underscored that the partnership with SiriusXM is a natural extension of Tubi's mission to help creators expand their fanbases and revenue streams. By integrating compelling podcast voices, Tubi provides creators with a powerful new channel to reach a diverse audience hungry for engaging narratives, reinforcing its commitment to being a scaling platform for creative talent.

This collaboration represents a significant step in the evolving landscape of digital content, blurring the lines between traditional audio and video formats. It allows renowned personalities like Conan O'Brien and Trevor Noah to extend their comedic and insightful commentary to a new demographic, utilizing Tubi’s ad-supported model to generate additional revenue. For audiences, it means greater accessibility to beloved podcasts, now with an added visual dimension, enhancing the overall consumption experience. The move is poised to strengthen both SiriusXM's and Tubi's positions in the competitive streaming and podcasting industries.
