In a recent discussion with Road & Track, Carl Widmann, the chief engineer at Ford Performance, confirmed that there are no active strategies to develop more aggressive 'R' iterations for the Bronco Raptor or the Ranger Raptor. This revelation addresses ongoing speculation among automotive enthusiasts regarding potential upgrades for these robust machines.
Widmann underscored the impressive power-to-weight ratio of the Ranger Raptor, suggesting it might already be pushing the boundaries of its segment. He noted that the Ranger Raptor currently surpasses its competitors by a significant margin of at least 30 horsepower, a testament to its formidable performance capabilities. Despite its smaller frame, the Ranger Raptor's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine, producing 405 horsepower, enables it to achieve a 0-60 mph acceleration in a swift 5.3 seconds, outperforming the heavier Bronco Raptor's 5.6 seconds. The Bronco Raptor, while featuring a slightly more potent 418 horsepower from the same engine, has a greater curb weight.
The F-150 Raptor R, equipped with its commanding 5.2-liter V-8 engine, will continue to reign as the most powerful offering in the Raptor series, boasting an impressive 3.6-second 0-60 mph sprint.
