A major overhaul is coming to the highly anticipated game, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, with its shift to an open-world design being the most prominent modification. This transition raises questions about how familiar environments from prior entries will integrate into this expansive new format. Director Naoki Hamaguchi provided insights into the reimagining of Midgar for Revelation, offering a glimpse into its altered structure.

In Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the entirety of the narrative unfolded within Midgar, the iconic walled metropolis situated beneath a colossal plate. Hamaguchi confirmed that players will revisit Midgar in Revelation's open-world setting, hinting at a significant moment from the original game making a reappearance. The director revealed that Midgar will feature in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, allowing players to explore it once more. Drawing parallels with the initial Final Fantasy 7, where the party returned to Midgar as part of the main quest, this pivotal sequence will be recreated in Revelation.

The adjustments extend beyond just Midgar's layout. Hamaguchi indicated that the overall game experience in Revelation aims to be more streamlined. Addressing feedback from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth regarding an abundance of content, particularly minigames, the developers have sought to create a more manageable open-world experience in the upcoming title. The director confirmed that the beloved Gold Saucer will also make its return in Revelation, with a section of it now dedicated to the popular card game, Queen's Blood, introduced in Rebirth.

This thoughtful evolution in game design, addressing player feedback and reinterpreting classic elements within a modern open-world framework, promises a fresh yet familiar adventure that enriches the player's engagement and fosters a deeper connection with the world of Final Fantasy 7.
